About MyWOS

Augmenting and extending relationships.

A return to basics

Wisdom of Old Soles represents a return to basics. It’s decentralized – encountering Jesus and His Word, by His Spirit, in love. We’re light on programs, buildings, assets, schedules, and traditions. But we’re not light on the Bible. MyWOS engages with next-generation leader-believers who are making disciples in our challenging world.

  • MyWOS fosters the development of believing communities rich in relationships, deep in the Word, empowered by the Spirit, and passionately in love with Jesus. You could say it's disciple making without the bells and whistles added since the fourth century. It's an interconnected approach conducive to the 21st century. It's the New Testament Church leveraging new technologies to connect us.

  • The Internet shifts relationships in time and space. “Live” no longer means “instantaneous.” It means “whenever” we respond to the next text or email, or whenever we listen to the next podcast. Until then, relationships sit in a sort of digital stasis, waiting for us to check in. The catch is that disembodied relationships are not entirely “real.” God gave us bodies, and there are no technological substitutes for the sense of touch or the smell of spring.

  • The Internet can augment our physical relations, but cannot replace them. That also means that ministry must ultimately be rooted in the “here and now," among real-life people who can extend their relationships through the Internet. It would be a grave mistake to slip wholly into cyberspace. We are not made that way.

  • Success is not a matter of visits or clicks, but rather of transformed lives. It is a matter of making and nurturing disciples in multiplying communities of believers who follow Jesus. Technology is a tool to accomplish that goal. While measuring success quantitatively (how many) is important, it is also necessary to measure qualitatively (how well) and with proximity points (how do we know).

Augmenting ministry

Wisdom of Old Soles uses technology in new ways to augment ministry that is already taking place among people, not to replace it. We seek to enrich the contacts, better the training, improve the prayer, accelerate the learning, and provide additional teaching.

Guiding principles

The following principles guided the development of the MyWOS platform:

Leadership & vision

Wisdom of Old Soles and its parent, Charlotte Awake, operate under the oversight of a body of elders who engage simultaneously as co-participants in the body of Christ. The overseers are committed to prayer and following the Lord’s call and carry a passion for reaching the next generations for Jesus. Their backgrounds include pastoring, church planting, disciple-making “Journey Groups,” leader training, and international outreach.

Pastor David Ingrassia has served in large and small churches. He has devoted his life to walking alongside people and introducing them to Jesus and life transformation. David is an avid student of church history, as well as ancient near eastern languages and civilizations. He is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary.
